Introduction of Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology

      Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology(SAST) was founded in August 1961. It is the key base of Chinese space industry undertaking, and is also named as the Eighth Academy of CASC, Shanghai Bureau of Astronautics.

      SAST has now over 20,000 employee, among them, more than 6,000 are technical personnel of different ranks including Academicians of Technology, professors and senior engineers. Under the management of SAST, there are 40 research institutes, enterprises and one listed company engaged in research, development and manufacture of military and civil products. Over the past 40 years, taking science and technology as lead, seeking development through reform, SAST has made plentiful and substantial achievements in building the two civilizations, and made great contributions to Chinese economy and Chinese national defense construction. The aerospace products involve four series of applications satellites, launch vehicles, tactical missiles, and manned spaceship, The scope of business on civil products includes automobile air-conditioners, office automation equipment, family appliances electric-mechanical products, import/export trade as well as real estate, and property management. SAST has primarily formed a group scaled comprehensive entity with complete specialty of various categories, which combines scientific research, manufacture, technology and trade as one.

Introduction of Xichang Satellite Launch Center

      Xichang Satellite Launch Center was established in 1970. It, located in Sichuan province, is China’s low-latitude launch site. The center completed its first launching mission in 1984. It is the launch site for China’s various geostationary communications and meteorological satellites and the only site for international commercial launching services.
